2 years… Man, I really can’t believe it’s been 2 years since I closed due to chronic pain but it feels soooo good to be back
I took some time off to rest and now it’s game time bitches. I’m coming back bigger and better than ever before with my first ever studio! It’s been a dream of mine since I started photography, especially since it’s cold in Indiana for nearly half the year and I specialize in fantasy boudoir.
Practice Sessions
In order to REALLY come back full swing and give my clients everything they deserve, I’m doing quite a lot to prep for when we re-open in October including Practice sessions for a few different reasons.
Firstly, to get me used to taking photos again and get me back to where I was skill wise. I charge a decent bit for my sessions, and I expect nothing less of myself than my best work for each client. I’m making sure that I’m back to the quality I charge for.
Secondly, to make sure all of my sets are perfect! I’ve been putting a lot of work into each set and making sure they’re perfect and working out the kinks is just part of the job. Plus having photos of each set to post are also needed for advertising!
Thirdly, To make sure I’m still being diverse! I am LGBTQIA+ friendly, size inclusive, and welcome people of all colors. I want to make sure every type of client feels seen and included when looking through my portfolio.
Studio Renovations
I’m not going to lie, I’ve done almost all of the studio renovations and set designs completely by myself so far aside from electrical and the plumbing. I like to say I have the gene where I’m determined I can do anything (and I do typically succeed too).
I’ve painted, patched concrete, built a fake tree, cleaned, thrifted, and hand selected everything in the building and I’m so proud of how far it’s come so far!
Ren Faire grand opening
On top of coming back to my photography, I’m hosting a Ren Faire as my grand opening party too! I always tell myself and others that unfollowed dreams are wasted ones because what if it all works out and your dreams come true? That’s better than never trying at all. So when I got the idea of a Ren Faire as my grand opening party, I made it happen and now I have over 30 vendors lined up, performers, a map of the space plan for the event, and It’s GOING TO HAPPEN all because I decided it would and I put in the work to bring it to life!
I’ll do another blog on that too because there are VERY FEW resources on planning a Ren Faire from scratch and blogs are going to be like little notes to future me too.
