Things I Use to Enhance My Boudoir Photography and The Effects They Create

December 18, 2023

Over the past year I have experimented A LOT with different things to add art to my photos IN CAMERA so I figured I would share all of them with you and show off some examples of each! Let’s get into it.

Pantyhose

Pantyhose are my #1 take with me to every session type of vibe. They don’t work for every occasion, but they do work for most and I LOVE the hazy vintage effect they create when used.

Fractals

Now I have 3 of these but there are MANY different kinds of fractals that make different effects with different situations. I used a fractal in this image to fill the whole photo, IN CAMERA, with white and pink like I had wanted and add some reflections to the image. I love the level of art these can add to photos in camera, and I’ll always recommend at least playing around with some to see if they’re your style.

Plastic wrap

This example is a bit out of the mix, but that’s okay. Accidents have a tendency to be how I learn best and, on THIS day, I discovered the wonder of plastic wrap from the protective film off of my daughter’s bike wheel.

The HAZE that this shit creates is literal magic to me, like can you SEE this? And on top of that it really works best in bright sunlight, those white spots on the tassels of her bike are actually a reflection from the sun, off the tassels, and to my camera making it white with light instead of just shiny silver and I’ll tell you I’m obsessed with it.

Lace

If you use the cutouts to your advantage than using Lace can add a super cool effect to any photo. Unlike with pantyhose, if you use the cutouts of lace to your advantage you can have parts of your image in full focus while others get the same hazy vibe.

Glass

The bigger the glass the better but even this was just done with an 8×10 glass sheet that I sprayed with water. Windows are cool as well though and there’s even stands of Plexi glass you can purchase to make even better faux shower/window photos but the vibes you can add with a foreground of water is seriously worth trying out!

Christmas lights

I’m going to give 2 samples here because I’ve used Christmas lights in a couple different ways. The first lights being the kind you plug in and put on a tree and the other are battery-operated wire lights.

For the first lights, you can get wrapped up in them (though keep in mind that being restricted in any form is erotica and your photographer would need ID for their personal records), you could also just hold them and have the photographer hold the other end close to their camera for this blown out, close up light effect. And BOOM some extra magic to the photo.

Now my example for the second kind is a Book Baby Photoshoot I did for the author of Everlong and I used the Christmas lights to give this more galaxy affect to the photo. I love how they turned out!

Water hose

Now this one was another happy ass accident lol, the goal WAS just to make it look like there was water on her but then the sun caught the spray, and my soul was done for. I was so freaking excited, and this photo is proof of how amazing it can be! LIKE, THIS WAS IN CAMERA! I am so proud of this picture, and this whole little set up to be honest. Would you believe me if I told you, it’s a DIY set up, I made in between my house and my garage? I probably wouldn’t if I hadn’t done it myself to be honest. It was so much better than I ever could have Imagined!

Different Fabrics

There are SO many kinds of fabrics that are partially see through if you just go to your local craft store and shooting through different fabrics can give some awesome different effects to photos. This photo was taken through this really pretty fabric that changed colors with the light so sometimes it was pink, sometimes, blue, sometimes you can see its shimmer, etc. but it was soooo pretty to shoot through and gave this stunning effect!

Things already in the photo

She looks like she’s floating on the clouds, right? That’s because I stole a piece of the fluff off her outfit and used it in front of my camera to hide the stool she was on and make it look like she was in the clouds. Again, ALL of these photos were like these IN CAMERA with only coloring edits and minor adjustments in lightroom.

By the way, her outfit is literal pillow fluff hot glued to a nude bra and panty set, magical things are all in our heads and we just have to bring them to life.

Reflections

One thing about me? If were getting in the water anyways IM USING IT AS A REFLECTION. Period. Always. I will never stop, and you cannot make me, even if I walk around with a wet butt, even if the ends of my hair get wet. There’s a REASON I wear water shoes to all my warm weather outdoor sessions. Because you never know when I’ll decide to go rogue and take a photo from somewhere absolutely bogus.

Things in Nature

Pulling from the nature around me is such a big must during sessions. Nature is an inspiration, a force to be worked WITH, not worked against. I personally think Nature and I have wonderful collaborations and this photo is just proof. This was taken through a hole in a fallen three that I was having my client sit on. It adds so much depth to this photo and I just absolutely love it.

While this imagine below LOOKS like it applies to things in nature it is actually a reflection. I added fake stones around a mirror and glued fake moss to it so the gaps would look authentic. This led to the vibes of this image where it appears as though the photo is being taken through a hole in a cave but in all actually it is a mirror on the wall reflecting my client’s image.

Well, there you have it! The list of all the different things I could pull out of my seemingly endless bag of shit that I bring to photoshoots. You either LOVE the vibes or you don’t, but if you’re my kind of people and you love my style then try it out for yourself or book a session. There is magic in everything, where do you find yours?
